This is truly one very special Maki-e. It is done on mother of pearl. The mother of pearl is harvested in South China Sea, where world's best pearls are produced. The piece is done by Mr. Kenji Yamamoto and the pen bears his signature. The pen comes complete with large lacquer box, paper and leather pen pouch for one pen. The nib size available are: F, M, B, BB and Stub. This is one big stunning pen.
A bit about the theme: Maiko is a female profession in ancient Japan. These women performed dancing and music. The big Kanji on the cap means "Dance", and the smaller character on the barrel refers to the first part of a song about dancing.
